PRP for Hair Loss and Thinning

We are now offering the new Theradome Helmet for home use – a treatment that addresses hair thickness and growth!*

PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma, Injection Therapy is a new treatment for hair loss in men and women who have noticed thinning or loss of scalp hair.* As a non-surgical solution, the injection procedure is a short 20 minute visit with no down time. Unlike prescription oral medications or topical solutions that must be used on a daily basis, PRP Therapy does not require daily maintenance.

What is PRP?

Blood is drawn in our office by our registered nurse and spun in our office centrifuge for 7 minutes. The concentrate obtained contains platelets and growth factors which assist in tissue regeneration and healing. Factors include Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF), Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGFb), Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), Fibroblast Growth Factor 2 (FGF2) and Insulin Like Growth Factor (IGF). These growth factors can stimulate hair growth and reverse the miniaturization of hair follicles which is noted in both male and female thinning and hair loss.*

How are the injections performed and are they painful?

Once your own PRP has been obtained, it is injected during the same visit in 10-12 injections into the areas of thinning hair in your scalp. Before each injection with a very thin needle, the nurse will spray the site with a topical anesthetic, resulting in a completely painless injection. You will then be free to go about any daily activities you wish, including a return to work.

How often are the injections performed?

We recommend injections every month for the first four months and then every few months for maintenance and increased growth.
