Microdermabrasion – SilkPeel
Microdermabrasion refers to the superficial sanding of the skin, which results in exfoliation of thickened epidermis and a softer, more even skin texture and tone.* The use of microdermabrasion began in Europe in the 1980’s and involves the use of tiny particles blown against the surface of the skin and vacuumed away, simultaneously removing the superficial layers of skin to expose the fresher, healthier skin below.*
Microdermabrasion requires a series of treatments in our Mountain View dermatology office. When repeated weekly or bi-weekly for a few months, the cumulative results can be significant.* Though you definitely feel the procedure as it happens, it is a painless experience (often compared to being licked by a cat) and therefore does not require anesthesia. The procedure typically lasts about a half an hour. The skin may be slightly pink and/or sensitive after treatment, however this effect usually only lasts about twenty minutes or so.* Sun protection is recommended by Dr. Gordon following treatment.
New SilkPeel Microdermabrasion

SilkPeel Skin Types
Safe for all skin types and colors, including Asian and African-American skin.
If you could remove that outermost layer of dry, dead skin cells, you would see just below the surface lies a fresher, younger-looking face. That’s exactly what SilkPeel Microdermabrasion treatments can do for you.* By gently, precisely, exfoliating the surface of your skin over a course of weekly sessions, SilkPeel treatments whisk away years of dull build up.* SilkPeel treatments can be customized by impregnating the skin with cosmeceuticals to moisturize your skin or to treat acne, revealing a more beautiful you.*
Brighter, clearer and more evenly toned skin is waiting for you after a few treatments. Over time, this repeated process stimulates the production of a new layer of skin cells, bringing with it an increased level of collagen and elastin, which further improves your skins appearance.* Schedule your SilkPeel Microdermabrasion treatment today in our Mountain View dermatology office!
